"U" Nut Hardware Finish for 1968

The 'U' Nuts (9422654) that the black phosphate screws on the front grills fit into are finished how? Thanks for your help. Bill

Most of the U or J nuts I have seen are a dark color, probably something like Dark phosphate. Since these go into the grill where a bright silver color would be in congruent to the surroundings I would expect a dark or black color was used, but I have no specific knowledge of 1968 U or J nuts
