Would like to know what others are using for engine oil. Having an car with very low miles, I change oil by time not mies. Recently had to replace cam, two worn lobes. Getting alot of advice, need some good advice. Thanks TL

I think that if you search the archives, the consensus is to use a CJ-4 spec oil. There are many brands of oil that meet these specs, most of the time you will find it in 15W-40 weight. No need to use the fancy boutique motor oils when you can buy what you need at about any parts house, Walmart, or service station.Dick Whittington- Top

Thanks Dick, I did review the archives after I posted. So, I shold be looking for a Cj-4 spec. What is your opinion on Rislone. I used to used a qt of it back in the 60's with my 442 and 396 Chevelle. 4 qts oil one qt Rislone. Thanks TL- Top

I used Rislone way back when, very dirty engines. Best I remember it caused more problems than it solved. I don't think with modern oils that you need any additives. Now fuel, that is another story....Dick Whittington- Top
