How is the electrical wire attached to the glove box switch?

    Thanks in advance

The original is what we used to call a "fishook" terminal, plugs into the slot at the top of the switch.

When inserting the fishhook terminal plug, the open slot should be positioned to accept the bump on the bulb base. When the bulb is installed it seats the wire and itself tight into the switch.

This is one area I break from being a purist. Since the wire is always hot with the battery connected, I cut the orange wire about 6 inches from the end. I install a female plug on the harness side and a male counterpart on the glove box side. This makes removing the glove box very easy and also you can let the wire dangle without the fear of causing a short of sparks. For judging you can not see the connection. For me this is a safety issue.

Harrys idea is a good one, However use caution when stripping the wires to install connectors as a 50 year old harness and connector will break at the switch if not carefully stripped. The coating on the wires is generally hard as a rock and doesn't like being bent.

          Thanks for your help.

Just so I am clear, I need to remove about 1/2 insulation from the wire. Insert the wire on the clip side and the slide in the clip. The inserted light bulb holds the clip and wire in place.

I like the idea of splicing the wire, it certainly make working on this side of the dash easier.

          Thanks

This is a 63 switch but the 64 to 67 is essentially the same.

Karl, let me go take some pictures, My GB is out of the car.

              Harry

Is the wire crimped or soldered to the clip?

              Thanks

The clip is both, the connector I added is crimped.
