    Seat Belts

One more question then I'll go make the Quiche for breakfast and put the turkey on...HAPPY TURKEY DAY EVERYONE...i am Truly grateful for each of you, your knowlege, your patience and your presence! Have a wonderful day!

Can anyone tell me How did the '74 convertibles NOT all have shoulder belts? I know they were optional...

    Thanks again

    Re: Seat Belts

In 1974 some 5,474 convertibles were produced. The RPO A85 (custom shoulder belts) were ordered for 618. So I would say the answer to your question is 4,856.

Pamela, I suspect that your question is in regard to the integral design of 1974 belts. Altough I don't judge 1974s, I believe that cars without shoulder belts used a lapbelt similar to the 1972-73s, which had shoulder belts entirely separate.

Yes, they did. However, I think that for 1974 the shoulder belt and lap belt were separate even for cars that had both. The convertibles without A-85 just deleted the entire shoulder belt assembly.

There are two separate belts and two retractors.

To convert to A85 you need these parts (and the belt/retractor of course).

74 T-Top cars had the lap and shoulder belts all sewed together in one assembly. Convertibles had two seperate belts like all 72-73 models. Only 618 convertibles had shoulder belts installed at the factory a rare option to see on 74 models. Shoulder belts were optional on 73 convertible models also.
