With only 3000 miles on a rebuild I would leave it alone unless there is some problem, enjoy the car for what it is 283/230 is not that bad.

My opinion would be to do with it whatever you desire, it is your car, and you and you alone, should be happy with it, good luck

I agree with Michael but when you ask for opinions/ideas that is what you will get. This site is about keeping the cars looking as they were manufactured. I have found any modifcation that can be readily detected is not a good thing..

          Again my opinion.

I have one minor quibble when you say: "This site is about keeping the cars looking as they were manufactured." Not quite, I think this site is about finding help in many ways to enjoy these great cars, that to me means keeping them running with or without "as delivered" components and equipment. Some want Top Flight, Duntov, etc. type cars, others are just interested in reliable daily drivers and running around to the store and to car shows other than NCRS as well. Some like me, have been through the Top Flight judging wars and want to put practical parts like radial tires, mag wheels, KN filters, AntiqueAir, BC/CC shiny paint (and door jams) and other such things to enhance our driving and ownership experience. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe Looking was a poor term, but I still believe that the intent of this site/organization is a Corvette be factory correct. Many of the items you state, I would think, would make many lose sleep at night.
Like I said just my opinion.

Ha! And I agree fully, but that is an understatement, most of these items would make some here positively apoplectic. But I would say most NCRS members would not be and are a bit more "forgiving" of personal preferences.

                  Re: '60 230hp upgrade

Back in the mid sixties I bought a 1958 with a "396". I replaced that with a 327. If that car was to be found today I can just see the "some Bubba" did this, in reality I may have saved the car from total destruction. Still have a soft spot for that car as it was my first Corvette. The one thing is that a car that is 50+ years old and still has an original engine does deserve some consideration in what is done, even though it is completly up to the owner as you said. The main thing is to enjoy the car I recall a gal about my age saying how fortunate I was.
                  "Bubba" ....... I mean Phil
