I have a couple of questions, not sure if I should separate into separate threads or not. I am having my gauges restored for my 61. Got the speedo calibrated and rescreened and it looks great. Went to pickup the tach and it wasn't perfect (the screening) so I asked them to fix it.

Question 2:
On the dash gauge cluster, I have what would be considered very large gaps between the 2 halves of the shell by today's manufacturing standards. Is this typical or is this abnormal? Here is a picture:

Question 3:
There is a "97" written on the underside of my gauge housing. I'm just curious what this 97 might mean:

Question 1:
while I was looking at the tach I noticed that it was "clocked" a bit with respect to the flat spot on the chrome bezel. This is hard to describe, bear with me. If I set the tach on a counter with the flat part of the bezel the face of the tach would not be aligned horizontally. The degree to which it is clocked is not huge but it's definitely not level. When I go back to install this after it's rescreened, does the orientation with respect to that flat spot make any difference? I was looking at the photo I took before I had the gauge rebuilt but it isn't the greatest picture so I can't tell if it was like this before but it looks close to being correct to me. I asked specifically about the orientation and the shop owner said "they are sometimes like that". |
