    1967 antenna fitment

I was wondering if all the '67 antenna assemblies fit this poorly. This is a photo of a repro body and nut and as you can see there is a relatively large gap around the body. This started my search for an original body and nut. Well I found those items today and the photo of these parts assembled doesn't look much better. Seeing that the nut has a retaining lip around the inside at the top, it would seem that a collar between the body and nut may have been planned. Don't other GM cars of this era use that configuration, a collar between the nut and body? I would like to see or hear about other '67 fitments because aesthetically this kind of detail drives me nuts.

My 68 is the same assembly as the 67 and there is a gap around the body similar to your photo.
