    New 1968-69 Judging Guide

I received my copy of the new 1968-69 Judging Guide today. It is fantastic and I think surpasses any other Judging Guides currently out there and, certainly, any previous editions of the 68-69 JG. Big kudos to Dick and Reba Whittington.

On a first pass through, though, I did discover an error and, once again, I am ashamed of myself for not catching it in the review process. However, I have covered this issue several times on this discussion board. The issue relates to 1969 small block harmonic balancers. Although the 1968 300 hp balancer is 6" OD, ALL 1969 small block harmonic balancers are 8" OD. This includes BOTH 300 hp and L-46. The WIDTH of the balancers is different, but the OD is the same. The 300 hp balancer is 1-5/16" in width whereas the L-46 is 1-11/16" in width. The same 8" X 1-5/16" balancer was also used for 1970 300 HP and 1971 270 HP.

Perhaps folks could annotate their new JG's with this correction.

First, thanks for the praise, Joe.

As you know, getting a perfect JG is the holy grail that will probably never be attained. Notes for the next one begin as soon as one hits the street (sometimes before). We will probably have to live with this one a while, although hopefully not as long as the last one.
Can you give a page reference for the error so people can easily annotate their copies?

Gosh, that is a lot of paper.

The picture on Page 63, much as I can make out of it, appears to not have anything to do with the text on that page. I haven't figured out where, if anywhere, it is supposed to go; but I wouldn't be surprised there is a picture someplace else that should go on page 63. We just have to put the puzzle together.

I am really pleased the TSBs came out so well. The scans of them didn't look good since they are on canary colored paper and I was concerned that the end result would be unreadable. I suspect someone (I would bet I can name that Long Islander) worked them over to make them more readable. That is a lot of work to do that, and we ought to really thank that person.

They certainly came out nice. Now we can all deal with WTMI.

Now looking back on it, we should have numbered all those TSB and CSN pages. If I wanted to refer someone to one of those, finding it would be a real b*^*%.

I thought that they were going to be in a separate book, but WTFDIK?

I found the answer. That picture is of a hole in a core support and does relate to the text near it. I failed to recognize that, and needed some help from others to make the image clear in my mind.

I have to be blind, but I just can't find this manual in the online store? Is it there yet? Maybe I'm looking right at it.
                    Thanks,Brad

Your electronic one isn't good enough?

I received mine the same time as Joe did, about 10d ago or so.

I have it in individual sections but not the combined version with page numbers and service bulletins. I have learned never to delete things. In fact, Roy had computer problems and lost the first one we sent; we had to send again. I guess the editor is the last one to receive a copy.
