Re: Fake VIN tag case settled in Buffalo
Do you suppose it will really bring that much with a bad vin tag? I guess we need more details about the vin tag, wouldn't it have to be a salvage title now? Anyone in New York state know the outcome?

With a fake VIN tag, I have a hard time seeing a $75K value for that car.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Fake VIN tag case settled in Buffalo
It is sad Roy, but so many owners ( and used car dealers) would not know a bogus VIN or trim tag if it hit them in the head. I did an inspection of a car two weeks ago that belongs to one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. He went to Carlisle a few years ago and found this car. Two of his friends, that supposedly are very knowledgeable about Corvettes looked at the car with him. On their advice he purchased the car. To start, the only part of the original car that exists is the body tub. Not sure about the frame, no numbers on the kickup. The engine is a restamp, transmission is out of ? rear end is not '67. Fortunately I did not have to tell the owner what I found and the potential purchaser told him that he had found a car he liked better.Dick Whittington- Top
