Corvette's Tow Vehicle: Tahoe on Maintenance Charger

My Tahoe sits a lot during the winter months with battery connected as normal. It gets used some but not on a regular basis. I have my Corvettes on a maintenance charge with battery disconnected. Can I maintenance charge my 2010 Tahoe with battery connected? I have Lectric Limited Battery Butler for it if that is ok?

I don't disconnect the battery on my C6 when I have the Battery Tender on it. Not for any good reason other than I am lazy, and it is not necessary to disconnect the battery on a reasonably new vehicle. The only reason to disconnect the battery during charging, or any other time, is if you have doubts or concerns about the integrity of the wiring in the vehicle. It might also be worthwhile disconnecting the battery if you think wildlife might damage the car's wiring. Otherwise -- charge away.

Gene, Disconnecting the battery is not something that I would do on any late model car or truck, there is a lot of memory stored that gets erased. The computer learns thing like idle strategies, driving habits.and of coarse anything in the radio, seat memories.

I use a C-Tek 3300 battery tender on my C6 Z06. I keep the battery hooked up with no issues. It is an excellent battery tender. I have had a couple of those Battery Butlers fail on me. I think you kind of get what you pay for .

Yes, cheap is not the way to go, At first the Battery Butler way good, but time has a way to bring out the deficiencies.
I have had a couple of the Battery Butlers fail (3 total now, newer light weight design even worse), I keep a close check on them almost every day. As they s**t the bed I replace them. My new source is Amazon for the Battery Tender Jr. Cost a bit more but a much more quality system compared to the Butler. Battery Tender Jr has heavier transformer and wire twice the size of Butler. Longer wires too and all contained in one unit.

I have three Battery Tender + and all have performed flawlessly, some for five years. I have one Battery Butler and it too has been without issue (Sure hope I don't jinks myself). All these have survived through three power outages, when like a dummy I failed to unplug them. I would recommend disconnecting, both AC & DC, during a power outage. These situations can cause power surges that can damage connected electronic equipment. Even if you only unplug them after the lights go out you are reducing the chances of damage substantially.
