    67 Sequential Trim Tags

I had previously posted sequential vin engine pads. Here are 3 sequential convertible trim tags assigned to 400,350,400 hp cars. There is one extra car between them, so that would probably be a St. Louis coupe. Any comments on these tags? It looks like there are some differences.

Robert -- I assume that you have the VIN numbers of the above 3 cars, which allows you to say there is one extra car. But couldn't that extra car also be a Dow-Smith bodied coupe or convertible ?

This was during the strike, so I would guess it had to be St. Louis.

Are the sixes different on the center tag or not struck as hard ?
        Interested to read others comments.

I've looked at them quite a bit and what we're seeing is probably just normal variation in the stamping done by an electromechanical machine. The tags aren't as enlightening as the engine pads, but you can see the consistency of the rivets and relative location of the typing. What I find interesting is one of those 400 hp cars sold at auction in 2006 for over 180,000. I wonder if we will see those days again.

            Robert,

I think the days of those very high prices are gone, since the government has demonized anyone who could afford them....

Bruce, very true about .gov demonizing those well off. While the market as a whole does not have the overall strenght of 2005/7, prices on rare no excuse desirable models are higher than ever.

                Steve ,

                I agree.

It is amazing how much money some of the modified cars and resto rods are bringing.

I believe the segment of the Corvette market that wants old Corvettes that have "creature comforts" is being satisfied with this type of car and obviously people are willing to pay.

We are off topic here guys discussing value instead of the three tags but since we are Rest-o-mods seldom sell for what it cost to build them, they are no different than street rods of yester year, cost more the day they are finished than they will ever cost again, because the builder just finished paying for it.

Real cars that are rare and have no excuses still do quite well today, maybe not what they did in 2005-2007, but still much closer to what they were then than Rest-o-mods are to what they cost.

And recently some specific, rare, documentable, vehicles have set world records in sale price.
