Re: C3 exhaust tip labels
We have seen a handful (literally) of original Corvettes with those labels on them. I expect we will see more Corvettes with them in the future, but they will not be original.Terry- Top

Re: C3 exhaust tip labels
Terry, would you expect to see these decals on restored cars? Would it not be like inspection marks like on suspension, or date ink stamps on the rear control arms, not all cars had them and one year you may have seen them, The next year may not have any.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: C3 exhaust tip labels
The Labels may have been there when the car was delivered at the dealer or they may have already fallen off at the factory, transport or the dealer. Ether way I would not deduct for 1 or all being missing but I would give a smiley face if some or all were present.- Top

Re: C3 exhaust tip labels
I don't remember my 1970 having them nor the muffler labels, but who knows? I don't have the broadcast code for the engine either, but there is a remnant of the glue on the rocker arm cover -- or at least some judges think they see that. I think originally our Corvettes were a lot more different than the restorations we see. Recent restorations have tended to become cookie cutter pieces. Thank goodness all the yellow marks on the brake lines have gone away.
Edit add: I have received some pictures from Ralphie showing the part number labels on a pair of 1973 exhaust tips. I am not going to post them. Ralphie has a list of other people who have posted pictures for him, so if you own a 1973 or are in the label making business -- stay tuned.Terry- Top

Re: C3 exhaust tip labels
Terry, like you and others have said, the cars are original once, after that it just trying to duplicate. And sometimes there is good and other times not so good w/reproducing parts, labels, etc. As with most of the people on the TDB were just trying to put back together a Car that would make the judges. and its a daunting task at times, As most of the C1,2,3 era cars were drivers all there life, and along comes the NCRS and their guidelines on how we can restore them correctly. There were not many owners that did everything the could to preserve there cars. So guys like you and others are called upon to help in our quest. Isn't it FUN!!!

Re: C3 exhaust tip labels
Yes Ed it is so much fun. Some days I want to help all I can and other days I get frustrated at all the "put tab A into slot B" duplication that is going on. Doesn't anyone let the car tell them how it was built?Terry- Top
