are the caps sold by K&B special products any good for a car that gets driven or are they only good for a trailer queen. for my Chevelle I was doing a tune up and noticed the brass lugs were getting wore out on my generic cap. if I am going to replace it I would like a cap that looks original. or who makes a good cap with the brass lugs and not aluminum?

Re: reproduction distributor caps
Truth is, the original OEM installed Delco caps had aluminum contacts, (except L-88) Brass contacts more prone to corrosion.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: reproduction distributor caps
I am really not looking to spend a small fortune for a real original one. as no one in the Chevelle clubs I go to know what a real one really is or could care. I just would like to have on that says Declo Remy on the top that will perform like it should. I see the prices on original ones are all over the place- Top

Re: reproduction distributor caps
Keith, I just install a cap and rotor and spark plug wires on a friends 68 small block with no problems, in fact the rotors they sell have the extended tips which are better than the current replacements. I say go for it, its got the quality for any Gm.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: reproduction distributor caps
Keith, Go to NAPA and ask for RR168. Nice heavy duty black cap with brass. Hopefully they still have them.
Some of those RR168 are low tower caps and so are the usual height towers. Part number the same. Go figure. JD- Top
