Professional Help in Pre-Purchase Inspection of a C4

I'm in the process of looking for a 1996 C4 convertable. I have a rather exhaustive pre-purchase check list for the weed-out process but while I have owned Corvettes in my youth, I am not mechanically knowledgeable when it comes toscrutinizing a 16 year old car for every potential or existing problem. I am looking for someone, a knowledgeable Corvette person, a dealership shop, or other NCRS source that would be willing to accompany me (or have me bring the vehicle to them) to inspect a potential vehicle when I locate one. I live right outside Detroit and of course I would be willing to compensate for this service.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks,
    Charles

These cars are pretty easy to evaluate. Check for warning lights and run through the operation of the features. CD players and electronic AC controls are famous for being inop. Power seats, both the lumbar and power features are something to check. Intake gaskets are common to find leaking. Documentation and some good owner history with service records are always helpful so you know what's been done. Feel free to drop me a line if you are looking at something and have any questions. I've been around hundreds of them. Can't count how many I've sold and serviced. tom@budschevy.com

        Charles,

Are you a member of the Michigan Chapter?
We have over 200 members, most located within 30 minutes of you. Several are C4 guys and would probably be willing to help you.

          Many thanks for the advice......

Tom Barr, I'm in Michigan and so Maryland would be a little far to expect anyone to come although if they had a bushel of crabs.............

Patrick.... Yes I am a new member of the MI NCRS chapter, haven't really met anyone because until 6 months ago, I had visual problems that kept me out of the driver's pool so I joined with the idea that maybe someone would have a restoration project going that I could help with. My mechanical knowledge is limited but I listen well and have a strong back (for a 67 year old). So if anyone needs a pair of hands sometime, I'd be more than glad to pitch in.

          Thanks again,
          Charles

            Charles,

Contact Don Griffin in our Chapter. If he is not able to help he will know who can.
            Don is a C4 guru.
