    engine bellhousing

When reading TIM &JM it states that bellhousing often had overspray on the bellhousing to varying degrees. Was the bellhousing left raw cast iron and no paint? When viewing engines in the photos in the restoration and tech guide they sure look like the complete bellhousing is painted. All the questions pertain to a 1959 FI car that I am restoring. Re: engine bellhousing

Bellhousing was on the engine when it went thru paint. coverage varied from full to partial. The mating area for the trans was not painted.
