    Allens Corvette Exhaust

    Has anyone had any experience with the above company? If so will their systems pass flight judging for a 67 big block?

    Thanks

    Larry;

    I had an Allen's system on my 1963 and my 1965 big block. The big block was judged a number of times; chapter and regional... No deductions.... I would still get more commentary before you decide. Their systems also fit without an issue.

      Lawrence:

      If you buy an aluminized system, it should get some deduction(s). Same for stainless. Not certain that Allen's sells a carbon steel pipe system, like the original. However, Sweet Thunder does. Also original sidepipes have the GM part number and a "W" for Walker stamped into their pipes that is visible to a judge. I don't think that Allen's has these stampings. As a judge, I would look at these areas in addition to the bends/welds.

      It is also possible that the sound is different and could result in a small deduction during Operations Judging. I know Allen's has different diameter/size internal baffles available in their pipes, and the sound is different for these.

      FWIW. Larry

        I can offer my Allens Exhaust system (big block--off road--aluminized) did pass regional flight judging 2x with no issues. However, not so sure I would do business with them again after experiencing fittment issues. They were contacted and it was anyones fault but theirs "we've been making these systems forever". Never once was a replacement system offered.

            I would expect some type of deduction from the most knowledgeable judges. No problem after all none of the systems offered by any of the vendors is 100% correct. Personally I like the fit and craftsmanship of Allen's stainless system. I just accept the deduct for stainless. Sound is real nice and they don't rust when driven. As stated there is plenty on this topic in this web site alone. With the cost for Corvette exhaust as it is I prefer to install one set and be done forever. So I go the stainless route and be done.

              I purchased a Allen's aluminized for my 63 and had a problem with the driver side fit. I emailed a picture showing what I believed to be the problem and they sent me another pipe. I spoke with a man named Jim and he was very nice and helpful. To me, there exhaust systems seem very well made, no problems with Allens.
