1967 Convertible top outside rear bow stainless trim

I removed the canvas off my original convertible top that was dated 1966 and the small stainless trim that goes on the outside top rear bow did not have the flared edges. I have been told by several NCRS members that my 1967 should have the trim with the rounded-flared edges. The new Al Knoch top came with the style that was on my old original top. Any body know which is correct? I can see that the flared edges would help keep the top from getting ripped, but do not seem correct to me.

thanks Wayne - the original top was in very poor shape and you could tell it was original based on the back window and since the car had not been on the road since 1975 I don't think anyone changed the trim parts... Hope you are well. Jeff
