    1960 Rear axle

Does anyone have part numbers for the O-ring and the flange gasket for the rear axles. I plan on removing the plates this winter and will need to replace the O-ring and gasket. I have looked in the archive and at several parts houses on-line without any success.

Thanks John, I did see them on their web site I was hoping for part numbers and try to get them locally. None of the vendors in this area seem to have them identified however. I also did not see the O-ring may have to just measure it.

Depending on the manufacturer of the axle bearing, the O-rings that were used on the 56-62 rear axle bearings could be different thicknesses, as well as the O-ring grooves in the bearing could also be different widths.

Regarding the gaskets for the bearing retainers, they are readily available from almost any auto parts store. Although, they are NOT a common gasket these days, your friendly neighborhood NAPA, O'Reilly, Autozone, etc, etc, can order and get them in quickly. I usually keep about 50 of these gaskets in stock myself. There are several manufacturers who still provide them.

Oh ya, the gasket that goes between the differential case and the axle housing is still readily available.
SOMEDAY, it is very likely that ALL of these gaskets will no longer be available through the local auto parts sources. So, it might behoove owners of 56-62 Corvettes (and 55-64 pass car owners) to stock up on a few of these gaskets.

Thanks for the information that is what I needed. Now I see if I can get them locally. I am sure that I can source the o-rings once I get them in the daylight and get the size.
