    59-61 Hi-Horse crank balancers

???? The judging manual for 58-60 (page 74) shows a balancer with 3 round holes plus the 3 pulley mounting holes (#318) for the 270 and 290 high horse engines. Posts on this site show balancers off low mileage or original engines with the long holes or spoke type design balancer. SOOOO the question is which is correct, or are both correct, with each having been made by a different manufacturer for GM. ALSO, at what point in 59 production would this type of stepped balancer started being placed on the engine? Does anyone have an approx. serial# or date it would have started? HOW ABOUT IT FROM THE OLD STRAIGHT AXLE MEMBERS AND JUDGES--- NEED GOOD INPUT ON THIS ONE!!!!

Sent you email response to your request for photos. Can't help on the serial number/date of the changeover, perhaps someone else will chime in.

Can you point me to your original source for the "1st version"? I'm aware that the initial blueprint drawing for 3764318 is
7/7/58. Goat Hill found a 6 1/2" diameter balancer that he could machine and pass off as correct, but the blueprint calls
for a limit of 1/4 depth holes in the outer ring for balancing so his got immediately trapped. In 52 years could GM have made another that was close....please point me to the thread source of #1,

the guy at goat hill claims he has other blue prints with various change overs during the 58-60 run, but he refused to send me pics of them, so I consider his claims biased.
