    C3 under car exhaust shape?

When "original" under car exhaust pipes go under the differential do they stay round or are they somewhat oval in shape (flat on top and bottom)? Any differnce between small block and big block shapes?

I believe my 70 has Allen Exhaust on it, they are kind of flat on the top and bottom?

    TIA,
    Mike

`Yes they are flattened somewhat under the differential. My take would be that they should be a little more than yours are, but wait for Paul O's comments. I only spend time under Corvettes on the lift and I haven't seen an original exhaust system in a coon's age.

I would be critical of the lack of dents made by the forming shoes on the inside of the curves. Finish is an issue as well. I expect bare carbon steel. Might be the photo, but those look painted balck. So we have Configuration, date (they are newer than your car because of their configuration), and finish. 60% deuct, but if the Originality number on the score sheet was an even number I would go to 50% to make the math easier for me. I think the hangers and clamps are on the same line, but I can't see those, so it might be more. Just my way of doing it.

Mike Here are a few photos that should help the first 2 are 2 inch exhaust and the second set are 2 1/2 inch.

If you look close at the 2nd 2 1/2 photo the flatting on the pipes starts well before the bend on the straight section before the bend under the differential.
