    Orphan parts

While recently reading a post about POP's, member Dale Carlson memtioned that he would like to know if anyone knows about 18558 and has any info on this car. Since the post was under POP's, he probably has the POP for this car. This car was in the Richmond, Va. area at one time and I will try to contact the last owner.
This brings me to the following. This is a big organization with lots of members who have POP's, engine blocks with vin numbers, trans cases with vins numbers, FI unts, etc. that would like to reunite these parts to the original car. Would it be possible to have a section for "Orphan Parts" in the Driveline (that would stay for long period of time) and on the Discussion board (similar to the dealer codes) for these type of parts that went to a specific car.
    Regards,

great idea page. i've got a # of blocks, etc, out of vets , have posted the #'s before without any response. perhaps if the info were"permanent", the parts may end up back with the cars.mike

We have had an "Orphan Forum" on our CRG (Camaro Research Group, www.camaros.org) site discussion board for several years for the same reason, and it's had several notable successes.

I looked at the Camaro site the John H. listed. That would be a perfect model for the NCRS to follow for these types of parts.
Also looked at the "similar theads" at the bottom of my post and saw that Jerry Bramlett posted a similar idea. That was in the year 2000. Who long does it take to do something like this?

I have several parts that qualify. No luck yet with Driveline Ads or other discussions. Would love to talk with the owner of '66 number 5383, or the owner of the '62 that gave up it's T10 to a '60.

On the other hand, I suspect there's a higher percentage of "dead cars" in all the mid-years, compared with 1953.

Page has been interested in this area for quite some time. About 6 years ago he reunited my 65 with its original short block. Great idea!!!
