    60 steering wheel

I got my car back from the shop and the horn sometimes honks when turning the wheel. The turn signals and also difficult to use. I removed the steering wheel and the cancelling pins on the wheel were at noon and 2 o'clock instead of 8 and 10. Is this enough to cause this problem?
    Thanks

    Robert -

The steering wheel being mis-indexed on the shaft explains the turn signal problem, but that won't affect the horn function. Sounds like the upper bearing/horn contact assembly isn't properly installed and is grounding out to the steering shaft.

Something is out of alignment, double check the assembly for yourself to the AIM

I just went through this myself on a '57. Removed the bearing, didn't see anything wrong, replaced it and the problem is gone. John, I don't see that there is a right or wrong way to install it. Please explain.

I experienced the same problem on my 1960 after my mechanic replaced the guts inside the turn signal hub. I disconnected the horn for about 6 months and since re-connecting, it only occasionally honks when I turn the wheel to the right now. I did not take it back to my mechanic and I never figured out what was wrong. Last year at Lone Star Regional, it honked on and off all the way inside the convention center as I was parking the car; extremely embarassing. I disconnected it for the drive out of the convention center!
