At Corvettes at Carlisle (Pennsylvania) this summer, among other things, I was looking for the rubber washers that go between the body and the washer nozzles on my '54. I found one vendor selling reproduction nozzles with washers. I asked if he sold the washers separately for people who didn't need new nozzles. I said I knew the washers were available from some of the larger Corvette parts vendors. He proceeded to tell me how those washers are too thin and that if I wanted his nice thick washers, I would have to buy his nozzles for somewhere in the neighborhood of $200. Well, I didn't buy them. Today I was at Lowe's Home Improvement store and looking through their collection of hardware. I noticed they had rubber washers of various sizes. I didn't have a nozzle with me to help choose the right size washers, but for $0.92 for a pair, I took a chance on a size I thought might work. After getting home, I tried one on a nozzle--a virtually perfect fit! The item is Hillman, part #880369, 1/4 x 1/2 x 1/16 rubber washer. It needs to be stretched a little to install over the threaded bottom of the nozzle, but once in place, it's a very nice fit and looks great installed on the car.
