C 1 Steering box / Column Rebuild

Finally got most of the pieces back for my 1960 Corvette after 19 months. One of the last jobs that was being done on my Corvette at the restoration shop was rebuilding the steering box and column. What I received back was everything taken apart in a plastic container. I am in central Nebraska, need to find out if there is anyone out there that you may know of who does a good job putting them back together. Thank You, Greg

I could not find Tom's, but found a you-tube video by Don Harris under a "60 Steering Box". It has about 3 parts to it. Step by step.

I'm not the Don Harris that John references. But I rebuilt my 60 steering box myself. First time to do anything like that. I used a set of Instructions from Tom Parson's. If you are interested I can email you a set if you will PM me your email address.

My worm gear was pitted and worn so I ended up buying the complete overhaul kit from Paragon. It's about $400.

Thank you for all of the replies and ideas. I am so anxious to begin work on my 1960 again. It has been a long, frustrating 19 months, just have to get the fire burning in me again. It is both a shame and amazing to see what a dishonest law enforcement officer can do to several innocent parties, all to try to move up the ladder quicker. I don't believe that when he did it, he ever imagined the firestorm that he was getting into with four corvette members. It cost us a lot of money, but we won in the end. The ball is in our court now and we will get the last laugh in this case!

Four of us NCRS members had a very frustrating 19 months. This all ended for me last week and very soon I hope to be able to let the truth be know about the authorities scam that we went through! In the end, we proved our total innocence and the dishonest officer will be exposed soon! Thank You, Greg
