PS: Please tell us what you find when you get your door panels off.
Thanks, Terry..I will probably be doing the doors in a week or so. That said, I just removed the emergency brake console. I'm sure it's a repro. The number "68" is molded into it, and there's what apears to be an "EProducts" as well..although the "E" Looks backwards...The "Cups" for the seat belts are all part of the console, not glued on. I would just repaint this one, but it has a few "Hollow" spots in it. The part just behind the Brake Lever where one would rest their arm...It looks as if someone screwed the brackets underneath too tight...or, it came that way. I should have the new one by Friday or Monday and I'll compare them.

Duck Whittinhton would know for sure, but I think there used to be an aftermarket supplier with the Exxxx Products name. See what Dick has to say. If he doesn't see this soon I expect to see him in Frisco tomorrow, and I will bring it to his attention.

It might be EC Products, a reproduction supplier in Atascadero, CA. They were big into reproduction consoles. I think they are still in business, maybe under the name "Corvette Pacifica" or something like that.

Joe has it right. EC was our supplier of these for years when we were in business.

                Terry,

Heard back from Dick...it's an EC Products. So, it's a reproduction. I'm anxious to see what's on the way to me. Funny, an NCRS Judge went over the car for the previous owner, said the interior was "Original" Not a big deal to me since I'll be replacing it, but.....

                Thanks,

                Bob

                  Thanks Reba...

I was just mentioning to Terry McManmon that an NCRS Judge went over the car for the previous owner, said the interior was "Original" except for seat covers and carpte. I'm anxious to see what I find as I begin removing the door panels, etc

                      Bob------

Finding an NOS original 1968 console will be difficult. The 1968 rear console, GM #3915609, was discontinued in July, 1969, and replaced by the 1969+ console, GM #3958750. The latter has no receptacles for the seat belt buckles. The 1968 console did feature removable inserts for the buckles.

You might find a decent USED 1968 console but it would probably require significant restoration. However, if it's "all there", these consoles can usually be restored.

                        Joe...

Just saw one online. $500.00 and it's cracked and warped. Think I'll stick with the reproduction...

You know the old saying... Believe half what you see and nothing what you hear. The car may never been seen by a NCRS Judge at all. Put a ad in the Drive Line for a original.

I hear ya, Jeff....Just that the originals are so very expensive...Saw one for sale..all cracked and warped....$500.00!!!!! Are you kidding me!?? An NCRS Judge looked this car over before I bought it, and said the interior was original...but for the seat covers and carpet....gotta wonder

                            Thx,

Here is an interesting comparison of the emergency brake console of how and when those seat buckle inserts were removed from production. The date on the later (original and actual GM copy) AIM had the inserts removed, per the revision of 11-1-67. I guess when they became moulded into the console.
