    Kind of a shame because removing the clutch plate and pulley is not that difficult with the right tools (Kent Moore/Robinair 10500) and then the coil is easily re-positioned. Does not require disturbing the shaft seal either, so it can be done on the car (hood removal recommended).
    Here's a shot of the clutch plate (pulley removed; not shown). Clutch coil remains in place.

      What side should the connector be on for a 71? In a lot of pics I've seen, with seemingly original compressors, it's on the inboard side.
