'61 FI Tach Cable Making a Clicking Noise

While the '61 was idling hot, I heard a clicking noise coming from the dash. I climbed under the dash and noticed that the sound was coming from the tach cable housing. Is this the sign of a tach cable going bad or in need of lube?

    Larry,
With the engine running gently move the cable and see if the sound changes.
Probably removing and greasing the inner cable should quiet it down.
