    Differential for my '65

    Hi,

My '65 does not have an original diff (4:11 I believe for a '67 or '77 Corvette) , I like to replace it for a 3:08. Can anyone tell me where I can find one??

    Thanks, Twan

NCRS Driveline - your current issue should be on the way if not already in hand

might want to consider 3.36 as they are easier to find than 3.08's

It depends on what you're looking for. If you want a number correct diff then you're going to need to get one with the casting date prior to the build date. The assembly stamping usually runs about 2 months later then the casting date but there were oddities with that as well.

If you just want 3 series gears, 308 336 355 370 373 390, and don't care about numbes then you should see what you have now. If you want to swap something quick then look for s decent used one but most of the used diff's I see and get in are beat up pretty good. If you have the time to remove yours you can see what you have inside. A real GM 411 will use a 4 series case and you will have to get a 3 series case to run those ratios. Some think the 4 series cases are worth something,in reality they are not because few want to run 4 series gears now and if they do US Gear makes 4 series ratios that work on 3 series cases now. If it's an orignal 67 posi it will have the small postage stamp window and those are very prone to cracking so it may not be worth anything.

If you can find someone parting out a mid 70's automatic vette you just may luck out and get a decent 308 diff but keep in mind those in stock form have issues with soft side yokes, flange head RG bolts they ofter backed out,and "snowflake" clutches, all of which I would address before installing.

Good luck, if you have any questions just let me know. The last used diff I bought at a swap meet was last year, $300 complete, and had a bad posi case once I opened it up and checked it.
