I don't think I have seen such an odd auction, the prices for junk was way up, good stuff way down, and it was obvious NCRS must not have been needed considering the "quality" of the 'Vettes sold.

If you go here: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...&ed=09/22/2012
and search by Corvette, you will see what they had and the prices. Mostly restomods, crate engines, undocumented FI, etc. and the few Top Flight type cars went for pretty low money.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

and the less than the Ermine White/Silver Cove 230 HP PG
They didn't say if the FI was an original or correct engine and drivetrain. Tom, now if that '59 270 HP was a black and black car, no radio ---

I also collect and restore Shelbys and Mopars, and I can tell you the inconsistencies were there across the board. It seems the bidders Las Vegas BJ attracts are not interested (knowledgeable???) in originality or documentation or authenticity. But they love bling and hype and of course the BJ way of making everything more interesting and expensive that it really is....Just check out the #1 seller, an alleged "Continuation" 1967 Shelby "Super Snake", incredible.

I don't beleave anything I see at auctions no reserve or not. Remember that the auction is a ad for the next auction.65 350 TI CONV 67 J56 435 CONV,67,390/AIR CONV,70 454/air CONV,

Re: BJ "vegas pretty bad...
What you wittnessed is typically of BJ and would suggest most all higher end auctions. Please take it with a 'shot of whisky'....! There's no correlation to a cars true worth or expected worth at any of these auctions, no matter who's providing the format. Buyers will pay what buyers will pay, many times less or as we've seen it more than they should have. It's all perception in the bidders eye what they want and are willing to pay. Don't place any value in what you see....it's just great entertainment.Last edited by Michael G.; September 23, 2012, 02:14 PM.- Top

Re: BJ "vegas pretty bad...
IMHO, BJ has pretty much turned into BS. But hey, where else can you find a "once in a lifetime" car, "signed by Carrol Shelby", and "selling way too low". And please don't forget to "bid for the kids!".- Top

Re: BJ "vegas pretty bad...
I lost count last night of how many times, whenever a Shelby of any kind, real or fake, had stalled bidding that Davis (dark shades on as usual in a dark room) or Jackson would start into their routine of, well you know old Carroll has left us now and there won't be anymore, blah, blah, blah, and how it was "way below the money". Re: BJ "vegas pretty bad...
Well, that's their job, to get all they can for the seller and thus themselves. My mouth was hanging open too when that countinuation car stalled then took off again and went for $300,000. That was just stupid. I have a hat that Carroll signed for me when I was out there to the shop/museum a few years ago. It must be worth 50K at least now.
I'm confused on the '59 now. I was sure that the banner said $119,000. when the bidding ended but the sales recap says $130,900.00?? Beats me. Steve, good point on the all black 270 no radio car. Paint optional.

Re: BJ "vegas pretty bad...
That "continuation" car is the biggest joke of the year over on the SAAC TDB. The guy that bought it, and the "world record price 1970 Shelby" and the Hemi Superbird has a bit of a shady background and record in Washington state.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
