    V74 Dealer Installed on a 1965

Found what appears to be dealer installed V74 4-way flashers on a 1965.
This was a NY sold new (documented by Roy Sinor). NY was a state that required 4-way flashers, anyone else see this on early C2's?

I would think that the flasher is vintage 1968 up with the DOT marking.

Mark, I believe that NJ and PA along with NY were the three states that required the flashers.

I read a while back that Maryland required it as well

My buddy and I installed an aftermarket system in my 63 back in the early 60's. The "push-pull" switch has a red jewel in the knob. He did all the splice wiring (Bucky Badger Engineer that he was) and originally mounted the switch under the cluster in plain sight. In the late 70's, wanting the car to appear more original, I moved the switch to well up under the dash on the column. You can not see it without resting your head on the pedals, and I alone know where to feel for it. Over the years I have found having them very worth while, specially during slow night cruises through Old Town in Kissimmee.

Mark, NY State never required the retro fit of flashers on cars previous to 1967. This is not a requirement to have options or features added to previous model years in NY State. So 4 ways should be treated as a non original add to the 65 Corvette. And I assume a deduct.

The hazard signal flasher has been replaced as previously noted by the "DOT" embossed on the flasher cover. In addition, the flasher is a Tung-Sol brand while the "Traffic Hazard Lamp Switch & Harness Assembly" is manufactured by Signal-Stat and it is my experience that the Signal-Stat assemblies always came originally with a Signal-Stat brand flasher. Typically, the assemblies used on 4-lamp cars had the Signal-Stat 170 flashers and the assemblies used on cars with 6 or more lamps had the Signal-Stat 175 and back then they would have originally been non-DOT flashers. Greetings, I have the exact same unit attached to the E brake mounting brkt. under the dash on my 65 #1551 / Nov.7 64 built coupe, sold new in Ohio.

Dealer add-on, Ohio Definitely DID NOT require hazard retrofit, lived here all my life...Well over 65 years. Owned several '63-64-65 cars w/out 4 way (NONE had it). I never heard of any other state requiring retrofit either.
