    midyear door weatherstrip fit problem

removed the old door weatherstrip and replaced with the "molded corner" ones, sold at major vendors and that section is larger or puffeier and hits the body when you close the door. the old one did not have the molded corner. I can see that in the future that section is going to break down and tear from the constant rubbing. I could not have installed it wrong, it only fits with the flats in the 90` anyone else have this problem? and how did you solve it?

centered the molded section in the door radius,no door sag and my door gap is very equal all the way around. I did not have original weatherstrip to remove so I cannot compare the molded area for thickness. anyone have a original one to share?

I am not familiar with your specific problem however I replaced my weatherstrip with material from Corvette Rubber several years ago. I think they make the best reproduction material available. When installed it is a tight fit it will compress with time.

That's just where I purchased the weatherstrip, cant see how the fit will ever get better without destroying
the rubber or my paint in that area?

Craig, I looked at my 67 coupe weatherstrip and it too has a slight interference at this location. The weatherstrip has been installed since 2005 and has no apparent damage. As additional insurance dress the rubber with some silicone like ClearGard or similiar products and you'll be good to go......

Once the door closes the weatherstrip falls into place nicely.
