54 radio restoration

Any advice on who to send it too? I was thinking about D&M but have never delt with them. Its pretty rough, face plate will need to be rechromed and the buttons. The bigger knobs need attention, who restores those? The white ones are ok. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks as always Guy.

You have two issues, one, who repairs your radio and second is getting the plating done correctly. What I did was to send my radio to get it operational with Charles Siegfried (nadjaart.com, 707-823-7927). I had him da the radio and send me back the parts that needed plating. That way I kept control of quality of the plating. Then I sent the plated parts back for assembly. The radio works great and looks pretty good to.Dscn1884.jpgDSCN2019.jpg

jerry rudbeck took care of the radio and the plating. he pointed out parts of the face plate that needed special care while plating. as he worked on the radio i was always updated with the progress and many photos were sent. on top of all this i was given a CD of all the steps jerry took while repairing the radio and speaker assembly.

Jerry Rudbeck restored the radio in my 62 and took care of sending out the parts to be plated. It came back brand new and the plating was better then I ever expected. I just broke off one of the shafts for the knob and have to send it back to Jerry.

I think you are missing the point. I'm not saying that Charles Seigfried doesn't do the complete restoration, he does. I'm just saying I chose to have control over the plating and not leave it up to a third party that I didn't know. Just another way to go about it thats all.
