Re: 1959 corvette muffler
I haven't looked it up but I can tell you by the numerical value of the part number, it was probably first used in about late 1957 or 58. If it was Chev passenger car or truck, it probably changed part number a few times over the years.- Top

Re: 1959 corvette muffler
My 2700 mile survivor has hiles in the right side pipes, I guess this is normal. I have rounded up all NOS exhaust parts except the mufflers, not sure what is correct but these look origional. book says 3815511 & 12 are new replacements and factory was 3752561 lh and 62 rh. The existing mufflers look to be ok but I was surprised when the number was on top pass side. The car was raised in the Seatle area. any info would hepl, don't want to do the wrong thing on the nice example.

GM #3752553 was never a part available in SERVICE. I strongly suspect it was a PRODUCTION-only part number. My guess as to what it was? A left side muffler assembly originally used for 1958 Corvettes and used thereafter through 1960.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1959 corvette muffler
Thanks for the input, I have rounded up all the NOS pieces except the mufflers to replace this worn out system. I have 2 mufflers #3752561 and 62. These mufflers do not have the short extension on the inlet end, does anyone have this demension or details of this piece?

Re: 1959 corvette muffler
I am looking for the oval ones, if the round ones had the correct inlet pipe I coud is them. The replacement mufflers had no pipe extensions and the AIM does not show a part number. I have considered buying the correct kits and removing this pipe and installing on my correct replacements. thanks RDR- Top

The SERVICE part numbers for the oval mufflers were GM #3714634, left, and GM #3719457, right (in this case the odd-left, even-right was not followed because these mufflers are used for other applications for which they are used on the opposite side). These numbers should be embossed on the SERVICE mufflers.
Regarding the 3752561 and 3752562 mufflers you have, I cannot find that these numbers were ever a SERVICE muffler. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe
I have two NOS mufflers 3815511 LH and 3815512 RH ( these do not have the extension welded on ), I have never seen 3752561 or 3752562, I may have mistakenly said that in an earlier post, they are the correct ones shown in the AIM. The ones on my car that appear to be correct origionals are 3752553 and the other is 375255(X) last didget not legible. I have never seen these numbers in any publications. In any event the mufflers are OK but the pipe welded to one of these is rusted out and I am looking to repair the muffler with the welded extension. I have all the NOS pieces I need except this one.
