White Lithium Grease in a tube

I couldn't find Permatex white lithium grease so I purchased a tube of off-brand from O'Reillys. When I got home and started to use it, it is cream colored. I thought maybe the white color had just separated. I kneaded the tube for a minute and it was still cream colored. Shouldn't white lithium grease be white?

The last Permatex tube I purchased was pure white.

    Joe,

I got a tube of Lucas Oil White Lithium grease at either at NAPA or Auto Zone and it is white. Not sure whether the grading has anything to do with the color, but the tube I have has NLGI #2 listed on the tube.

White lithium grease used to be one of my favorites. Not any more though as it's too watery and breaks down quickly.

The original LUBRIPLATE white grease is still available.......but you have to look for it, or order it on-line.

It is the same stuff we used 40-50 years ago.....and what was specifically called out in the factory shop manuals.

"White" is a matter of opinion. There must be a couple of hundred different shades of white.

I can't remember what site, but I saw lubriplate white grease in a small white tube on the net recently. I noticed it because of this thread. Seems to me iut was made by Permatex. That ought to make it pretty easy to find. Permatex products are all over the place around the Midwest.

If the grease meets the NLGI #2 specs the color will have no impact on it's lubricating properties.

I bought a small tube of Lubriplate off Ebay. They guy selling it had a lot of stuff on Ebay that he says came from an old Chevy dealership that had closed.

The only thing that I can find in a small white tube are calcium greases (their 100 series multi-purpose grease).

I'm pretty sure they have an NLGI 2 white lithium grease, but I don't think it's in a small tube.

I purchased Permatex White Lithium Grease in a 1.5 Oz tube item# 80345 at a NAPA Store.
