Front Coil Springs for 66 L79 no Air is AC Delco # 45H0174 The Correct Spring to use?

    Hi All,

    Quick Question.

Looking at replacing my front Coil springs and want to know if a set of AC Delco # 45H0174 is the correct spring to use, on my 1966 L79, non Air, Vert?

    I would appreciate any assistance.

    Thanks

    Nick,

Correct in what way, functionally or do you mean are they like your original coil springs?

I searched the AC Delco p/n and found the spring you referenced on Amazon, and according to their database it is the correct functional replacement coil spring for your car. If you are interested in the original style progressive-rate coil springs, the NOS part number you're looking for is GM 3851100, called out in the chart located on UPC 3-A4 of your 1966 AIM.

Thank you for your response Scott.

Original in the way the factory would have shipped it out in a car.

I guess, from your findings the AC Delco # 45H0174 would fit fine and work fine, but would it take a hit on points when the car is Judged?

        Nick,

I can't speak to the 45H0174 other than to say the Amazon.comcorrect GM new old stock part is going to be the best choice most of the time, when a restored original part (either from your car or a donor car) doesn't make sense. There are exceptions, of course.
