      Joe,

I don't know if the straight DAP stuff sits up, but the mix I used with it and the Naptha did harden up to where it is stiffer than regular dum-dum.

FYI, Gardner Bender makes black duct seal, aka dum-dum. They are in Milwaukee, WI. I believe Ace Hdwr carries it.

Use the black 3M strip caulk. It is available from auto body suppliers, Paragon, and I think Corvette Central.

I see this stuff on Amazon and e-Bay as well as on the Home Depot site. My question is: in the photos, it appears green. Is it black or a greenish color?

dum dum or rope caulk is too ridged for this application. original sealant was slightly runny . I have found a product that is very close - Flex Seal

or a spray roof sealant will work fairly well.
