    Altoona Regional

We just returned from the Regional event held last week in Altoona, PA. My father and I have been involved in NCRS since 1998 and have had our car judged several times since then. We were scheduled to bring our car to attempt a PV last week however we lost an oil pump on Monday. We decided to attend the meet anyway and man am I glad we did. For the first time since joining this great organization we were able to participate in the judging process as Observers. I will be the first to say, if you have not had the opportunity to participate as an OJ you might be missing out on one of the best experiences that NCRS has to offer. I would like to thank Jeff Cook, Mitch Stamos and Ara Gechijian for allowing us to spend time with them judging 1967 Exterior. I cant thank them enough for sharing their knowledge and taking the time to explain how parts, configuration, paint, etc differ from original and reproduction. I hope that Ill have this opportunity again at a future meet.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Chuck,

I think I saw you and your Dad when I came ripping out of the building in the 67 silver convertible heading for the trailer. Your 'old man' is a good guy.

I swear it's the best experience to do that kind of thing. You are more than welcome. I too had a wonderful time. I swear we've got the greatest bunch of guys in any organization out there. The Pitt Chapter did a GREAT job with the event too. Kudo's to them. Some AMAZING cars there to say the least. I will post some of my pics later....The knowledge that one can absorb at one meet matches that of reading any manual from cover to cover. Hands on experience is like no other. I also want to say how nice it was to not only get to catch up with you and your old man, but also to see other friends like Nick Culkowski, Mike Murray, Paul Noble, Frank Aveni, Mitch Stamos, Jeff Cook, etc etc etc...The event was great....Mark, we didn't get to meet, but give me a call so we can catch up. That was one AWESOME "67 silver convertible" you were driving....it was more than just a silver 67 vert.....

HI Chuck, Sorry your car had oil pump issues. You are lucky you didn't trash the engine. I agree with you on the OJ judging. More car owners than plan on having their car judged should do the same.
Thanks for the good compliments. Our chapter has a great bunch in it and the best part is we are all friends.
Problem with PA is it's a big state and really needs another NCRS chapter in it. One located in the north central part of the state.
Our state has a chapter on each end. The Pittsburgh chapter has members driving 165-180 miles just to come to a board meeting. Whew!!!
Hope your get your car fixed easily Chuck. Don't use a hi flow or hi pressure oil pump. Just the stock pump is all you need as mentioned here a 1000 times. John

I am new to this hobby and in the process of restoring a 69 350/350 convert. I too went as an OJ and pretty much made a pest of myself to the 68/69 judges. They were patient with me and answered all of my questions while I also made a pest of myself to the other owners that were there too. Since I made note of their names, I will probably continue to be a pest while i continue my resto project. I learned a lot and also learned how much I need to learn in the future. Well worth the time and travel to do this. Kudos to the Pitt chapter for it was well organized and attended.
