I see Kevin brought his new 67 L-88 ''DANA'' Chevrolet race car. That is a neat car that has been in California since new. 1967 #17527 L-88 convertible, one of 20 cars made, was sold originally to John Peter Hill of Huntington Park, California.

The selling dealer was DANA Chevrolet, 8730 Long Beach Blvd., South Gate, California 90260. The selling salesman was Dick Guldstrand. The handwritten purchase order is dated 3-29-67.

John owned and raced the car in A/P Class in California events and sold it August 17, 1970 to RON CASSILE, living today in Texas who owned and raced the car until it was involved in a fiery crash crash at RIVERSIDE on March 28, 1980. The Corvette blew the engine so Ron pulled the car over to the side and got of it and walked up to then fence away from the track, when a Porsche ran into the back of the stopped race car. Long time NCRS member DOUG DEWER restored the car in the early-mid 80's. We lost Doug to cancer in 2008, and Kevin bought the car this last March 2012.

As those of you who were in attendance this past weekend know, Steve's car is beautiful! But what most of you don't know (including Steve) is how tight that car is at 80 MPH!!! (see photo) Once again, THANKS Steve!!

        Chuck,
Great picture! I laughed out loud when I saw it! Elio Martin did a fantastic job restoring the car. The fact that he came to check up on a nervous owner and friend with the responsibilities of being the 65 team leader gives you an idea of the kind of guy he his!

Steve's engine bay is one of the best I have seen (especially when you know it is a real motor). The motor color is perfect, the runs in the valve covers look natural. and original hoses, original Battery and NOS blackwall Laredos really sets it apart. Elio Martin has set a new standard with this restoration. The judges were straight on with deductions although there were very few. A black/black 435 roadster is the dream of many. I know it is one of mine.

You are right about that, Elio did a great job and genuinely cares about each car that he touches. Kudos to both of you!

I saw this car at Bloomington and it looked beautiful. Steve is a good Corvette friend, too.
