I'm currently restoring a 1971 LT1. Unfortunately, the AIR system is missing. I've heard there is an NCRS member that sells restored systems. Could anyone provide their name?

Bill Hodel is the guy. Most of the components of the system are fairly easy to come by. The pump and check valves were used on a wide array of Chevrolet vehicles in the 1969-75 period; they are not rare. The pump bracket was used only on Corvettes but they can usually be found on eBay for $50-100. The manifold tubes ("trees") and hoses are available in reproduction. The big problem is the diverter valve. That's where the BIG $$$$ come into play.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 71 AIR Pump
You will find that an origonal # matching AIR set up will be $1,500.00 or more . If you don't care about the # and just want a working system that looks good you can have the adventure of finding all of the parts at swaps or on E bay for a lot less . That is what I did last year for my 71 LT1 .
I found a guy in California that had a complete set up that had been taken off and put under the bench back in the day . I paid $550.00 plus shipping .

Re: 71 AIR Pump
Thanks guys . . . Are major points lost if the numbers don't match on the AIR system? The car did second flight 2 years ago with sidepipes, incorrect windshield, interstate battery, AIR system completely missing, and totally non-restored. If my memory serves me correctly, one of the judges told me that I could pick up most of AIR system points just by having one on the car, and that if the date was wrong it would be a minor point deduction.- Top

I agree with the others. Bill hodel is who I have bought from.He can get you a correct set up for your Corvette or get you a non correct one for less money but for my money i would get the correct one but that's just me.65 350 TI CONV 67 J56 435 CONV,67,390/AIR CONV,70 454/air CONV,

Re: 71 AIR Pump
Ralph, the small block passenger side repo manifold tree is detectable to any judge with two eyes. Most judges will deduct for both is one is repro. Guilt by association. I think there is a difference for the BB, but I am not sure of that. Someone else will have to enlighten you.
Hay come around to a meet and see how things have changed since you were hanging out with us. There will be lots of meets near you next year with the National in Hampton VA. Don't be such a stranger and I will put you to work at my Advanced Judging Seminar. You need to meet John "the real deal" Ballard and Patrick Hulst and some of the other newer C3 folks. Maybe meet some of the older C3 folks too.Terry- Top
