1960 - Correct routing of speedo cable

I'm finishing the wiring of my gauge cluster and under dash area. Currently my speedo cable comes through the glass surround behind the cluster and over the wiper transmission cables. I'm worried that the wiper transmission cable is going to rub on the speedo cable. I have tried to push the speedo cable up as much as possible, but the under dash metal support and defrost outlet keep it from going up more.

What is the correct routing for the speedo cable? Does it go above or below the wiper transmission cables? Looks like the best fit would be for it to go between the two wiper transmission cables, but I don't think that is correct.

I can post a picture if that will help

    Thanks,
    don

Don, I believe the cable comes thru the firewall and under the wiper cables, then back thru a small hole to the gauge cluster.

I just looked at mine (1960) and it is above the wiper cables I do not think it would bend to go below them. From all appearances the cable in mine has never been removed.

Don, I routed mine under the bottom wiper transmission wire and it is close to touching the wire, but it doesn't. I believe it will be close to touching a wire if you route it above, in between, or below.

Phillip, is there anything like holding your speedo cable up, is it tied up to anything else. I've sort of tucked mine up around and over the defroster outlet, but not sure it will stay there. I've attached a photo. As you can see it is very close to the top wiper transmission cable.

          Thanks,

if you are concerned about it not staying in place, you can always tie it up with one of the brass tie straps; won't be correct, but will assure you that it won't rub against the wiper cable.

              Don,
THere is a cable strap holding it to the vent, I am not sure if I put it there or it has been there forever looks old. Like Joe said you can tie it up. In looking at mine that is the better of the three locations around the wiper cables.
