After 30 minute drive took off sight plugs and noticed fuel level in secondary bowl is a bit below the opening, and as I was taking sight plug out of primary bowl, fuel started coming out before I completely removed it so I screwed it back in. I assume this indicates the fuel level is too high, the engine idle was fairly smooth for an L 72. Now, when I release the locking screws to adjust the nut which in turn will lower/raise the float, I assume some amount of gas will seep out of the screw openings given the fuel pressure? Is this adjustment ever done when the engine is not running? Thanks

Re: Adjust Fuel Level 3247 Holley Carb
I've attached the instructions from the '66 service manual, same instructions for center and side pivot carbs, engine warm, running at idle, adjust to bottom of sight plug. See attached...2012_Carb0.jpg2012Carb1.jpgBill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Adjust Fuel Level 3247 Holley Carb
If float level continues to be high and needs "readjusting, check for pin hole in float. Had one in a carb bought new from Holley, drove me crazy until I checked "common things are common", even in a new carb.- Top
