1957 passenger door problem (split Panels)

The outer and inner shell on my 1957 corvette has a problem. The inner and outer fiberglass panels have split apart beginning at the top and going down to almost the bottom of the door. See pictures. Has anyone had this before and if so how did you fix. If you squeeze the panels together they fit back nicely. What did you use to fix? Do you have to add fiberglass mat to the top to strengthen the tope joint? what resin do you use to fix Polyester or epoxy? I realize you have to lightly sand the old joint to get some tooth for the new resin to stick. Any help/comments appreciated

    Ted,
You probably need to split the skin from the rest of the door, clean up the joints and then reassemble the skin to the door using bonding strip adhesive.

Most of the usual Corvette suppliers carry the adhesive.

Be sure to have lots of clamps before you start the procedure.
