What the heck is this?

Although not found on a Corvette (to my knowledge) is a tank I've had in my shop forever. Since it has the word 'Trico' on the valve has to be some sort of automotive application. Tank measures 5.5" wide and 11" long. I'm sure one of you has the answer. What the heck is this thing?

my guess a vacuum reserve for brakes or wipers. BWTFDIK

I would guess something with air ride suspension, maybe Cadillac, Buick, '58 Chevy, etc.? Chip.
