    1962 Seat Assembly Identification

The ST-12 includes two illistrations of seat assembies, Fig. 52, "Seat Assembly -1961 to 1962" and Fig. 53, "Early Model Seat Assembly". My 62 has Fig. 53 type seats needing restoration. Can anyone identify the year of my curent seats, and is any one intersted in a swap or know of a source for correct 62 seats. Thanks..Ed

Ed,, not sure if my pictures will help. I didn't photo the seat tracks when I took them out to clean under them. The seat back had these markings- SWBP 2 10 61 and G 2 F-1124-C. The seat cushion Had - MSWBP 2 17 61 and FA1F-1123-R3, 3782958-6. All this is the passenger side seat.

      Ed,
The seat frame you show in the second picture looks like it's for 56 to 60.
The same with the seat back in pic. 4.
61-62 seats have an integral frame and the back bolts to the bottom assembly.
Theyare basically a 2 piece assembly where the 56-60 seats have a separate one piece frame and loose bottoms and backs.

John - Thanks for the photos. I didn't think mine had tags, but I'll take a close look tomorrow.

Bruce - I kind of thought that is what I had, but I didn't know what years used separate frames. I looked around Carlisle last week but did not see any 62 seats new, used, or otherwise. I suppose 61 or 62 seats would work...Ed

          John,

Well, well, well. I didn't know the seats had tags. My driver seatback has a stampted paper tag marked 12 8 58. Guess that expains why they just don't feel right in a 62. Thanks again for the photo of the tag, it made me think, and lead to the answer to my question...Ed

61 and 62 Corvettes use the same frames and tracks the only difference is the width of the pleats in the seatcover.
