Re: 1967 gas door spot welds
I thought there were 4 spot welds, one at each corner of the latch assembly where the latch attaches to the underside plate. The 2 nice depressions between the 2 welds on each side of the latch assembly are line up points to line up the latch assembly on the underside plate which has 2 holes drilled in it so the latch assembly is in position for the welding operation. Re: 1967 gas door spot welds
Keith - I thing Dad's Gas Door is a replacement. I checked a known reproduction I have and it is embossed with 381440430181 (as best I can tell) by the hinge and it has no line up indentations for the latch, just the 4 welds. My original Gas Door has 38144041 30181-H embossed by the hinge and has the 2 line up indentations on the latch plus the 4 welds.
