    Underbody seat mounting bracket

I was reinstalling my passenger seat after the new carpet installation and I hand tightened the bolt then on the second turn with the socket the underbody mount came loose and is hanging by the bolt. It's too late tonight to get under the car but looking at the AIM I think this plate is riveted in place - is that correct? The bolt in question is the rear seat bolt close to the transmission tunnel.

Also what is a recommended vendor for a new mounting bracket?

The car is a 1972 coupe.

    Thanks,
    Glen

    Hi Glen,
Your thinking is correct that the 2 rear seat mounting plates are held in place by the typical soft aluminum flat head rivets passing through the fiberglass underbody.
The nut plates are readily available from many of the venders; but might yours be reusable/restorable?
The irksome part of this might be that the rear corner of the carpet will need to be lifted to gain access to the rivet heads to 'buck' them.

      Alan,

That's what I was afraid of. I'm going to check and see if mine is reusable. If not 'I'll order a new one. Are the rivets available also?

      Thanks,

      Glen

        Hi Glen,
Yes the rivets are available too.
Buy the longest available and then cut the shaft down to length once you determine what you need.
