    1957 Wonderbar Radio help.

I would like to bench test my radio and need help in determining how to hook up the power and ground.
I have attached a picture of the spade connectors and numbered them 1, 2, 3.
#1 might not be a connector, I'm not sure.
They seem to feed a small buss bar inside the radio.
    Thanks in advance.MVC-062S.JPGMVC-063S.JPG

Bruce - if you have the original connection on the car, you should be able to trace the wire from the ignition switch to that connects to the corrrect spade. If that isn't available, one of the spade terminals connects to the power, one to the lights and I'm guessing one to the ground. If you have a continuity tester, you should be able to figure out which is ground by connecting a wire to the spade and touching the radio case. The other two will either run the radio or light up the light in the radio.

Bruce, the buss bar you see is actually a spark arrester. As Gerry says, one is for the light and one is power. Just, whatever you do, do NOT reverse the polarity. Make sure the positive from your battery or power supply feeds the power in - not ground. -Dan-

Bruce, Just did a quick search for 3725156 radio and found this service brochure. It includes schematics.

I know nothing about this model, except it also needs the Powerpack supply. Do you have that?

If those 2 spade connectors are for the 12v power and the dial light, I'm not sure but the ground may be the metal case as in later radios. I looked at my 57 AIM and schematics but did not see a separate ground wire going anywhere. As you probably know, later radios connected to ground via a wire from the side of the radio to the right rear inner valve cover bolt. If and when you power up, don't use a power supply, always use a battery.

I would definitely call Jerry Rudbeck to verify all connections.

            Thanks guys,

I got a lot of info from Jerry via email, and I think everything is under control.

            Thanks again,

            Bruce B

              Yep, Jerry is great!

Please document the power connections here in the thread for future reference. I'm also curious if the radio case is ground and what it gets wired to.

Here is the information I received concerning the gender of the spade connectors in the picture:
                #1 is the ground
#2 is power to the dial light.
#3 is power to the radio.
