Re: C2 Steering Stabilizer (shock) Question
I have a 68 SB convertible with almost 97,000 original mileage. When it is driven, about 55-60 it shimmys and it does have the original damper in the steering linkage. I have entertained the idea of putting the tires from my 70 that have no rolling problems on the front of my 68 to see what would occur. Driving the 68 at 50 mph and below, have no problems and no shimmy at 70 and above.
Years ago I changed the tire rod ends to the front holes like power steering Corvettes and quicker steering movement.
When getting on the interstate I quickly accelerate above 60 when I can to bypass the shimmy speed.
