Gasoline: Winter Blend or Summer Blend

It`s getting time to fill up my C-2 & 1957 Nomad. Is it better for me to wait until the Winter Blend is available or do the 283 250HP & 327 250HP engines have a preference for the Summer Blend gasolne. A tank usually lasts me a year and my driving is usually between 20 to 30 miles per run here in Southern California.

I checked past posts and could not locate one which discusses the difference between the blends and how they relate to engine performance.

You want the summer blend. The Reid Vapor Pressure is lower, so it will not vaporize as easily (ie. less "hot start" issues). Winter blend gas has more butane in it to make cold starts easier. Most of us don't drive our older cars in the winter snow anymore.

If you have the choice and given the known vapour lock/percolation issues on some cars, I'd go for summer blend. Winter blend, amongst other things will usually cause fuel consumption to increase slightly.
