93 ZR-1 Cruise control just quit

This past week my cruise control failed to engage. I checked the fuse, which is also attached to the Tach and Amp meter, both quit when I removed the 5 amp fuse. It appears it is something else. I have no idea where to go next to find the little bugger. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. I do have the Mech and Elec shop manuals, but that is like reading a doctorial write up.

First place I would look is the brake switch. Perhaps you will get lucky and have it be the culprit. Pull up on the pedal with your toe and try to set the cruise. We'll go from there !

      Ed,
The difficult of reading/understanding the manual aside -- is there not a trouble shooting tree for the cruise in there?

          Terry,
You look in the mech section and it refers to the elec sectoion which refers you to the fuse section. It aint the fuse so I have no place to go. I looked in the mech book and it gets into removal of the styreen confactor and use of the special tool for the catapillaer flywheel. If that does not work call the crime lab in Bumfuzzel Ark and tell Bubba your problem and 48 to 72 hours later they will send a carrier swallow to your house with the answer.

I would also check all your brake lights I remember for some years GM cars if 1 brake light failed the cruise control became inactive.

On my 1995 Caprices if the CHMBL (Center High Mounted Brake Light) goes out so does the cruise, but then I can find the cruise control trouble shooting tree in those manuals. Clearly those manuals, in spite of their applying to Impala SS and Roadmaster, were directed to a different audience than your Corvette manuals.

To Dave Perry and Terry M., After a lot of test light maniupulations, and doing a check and disregard of all the wires involved, I found the problem to be in the Servo. When I started I was not aware one had to remove the right side dash assembly, to get to the cruise control module. I called my local chevy dealer and was advised the unit is out of stock (story of my life with C-4's). They told me a dealer in Chandler, Arizona had 4 of the items in stock. Called and was told I could buy one for $400.00 plus shipping. I went to plan B. Called a few friends in that line of business and found 2 for $129.00 plus shipping of $15.00. That unit is on it's way to Canyon Country and will be installed next week. What I am thanking you guys for is the info which printed up and followed the check out tree in the 93 service manual, using both volume one and two. I will be back on the road again cruising at 70mph and getting 26 MPH.
